"Had a great dining experience at Kakureru Izakaya Restaurant Melaka. The food was delicious and the staff were polite and attentive. The place has a lovely atmosphere and is perfect for taking photos. Just a little feedback — it felt a bit rushed when the staff kept clearing the table while we were still chatting. A bit more space to relax would make it even better.*"
"Overall a nice place with great interior design. Really like an alley with small shops, you can even briefly feel lost on your first visit. But the friendly staff will guide you, and soon you get the layout. Due to the many rooms it didn't feel crowded and you had your own space. The food was good, the katsu breading crunchy, the sauces and the mayo tatsy - nothing was bad, just the ramen could be even better (but our group visiting there is spoiled with fully handmade ramen of extraordinary quality, so that is a complaint on a very high level). We still wanna come back and try more things, it's just that the generous portions (including the big cups of tea included in the sets) will require multiple more visits to try everything we are interested in."
"First time trying Kakureru Izakaya, a sister company to my fave Japanese restaurant Wazen in Malacca. The vibes and settings of this two-level Izakaya place is wow! They also have live band on certain days I think. Brought my parents and my in laws to dine here for two different occasions a day apart. No regrets. The food here was delicious. Sashimi/ sushi were fresh and good quality. The taste for all the food we ordered were on point and tasty. They have a very extensive menu. Staffs were attentive and helpful despite busy, lady boss herself was serving customers and very hands on during busy period yet still friendly and smiley. Ordering system through QR needed to be improved though. We decided to order manually through staff because it was way faster. Reservations can be made through WhatsApp. Price wise is slightly pricier but with the quality of food served, will definitely return again to try the rest of the items on menu. Recommended to all Japanese food lovers."
"Five stars for Kakureru Izakaya in Melaka. Our family’s lunch felt like a mini getaway: warm, moody lighting, a tall “street indoors” ceiling, and clever alley‑style layout with cosy nooks that make you feel like you’ve found a hidden Tokyo backstreet. The background music kept conversation easy, and the themed private rooms look ideal for small celebrationsbook ahead. The food delivers. The Rayu Ramen Set has a gently spiced, aromatic broth with springy noodles you’ll keep sipping. The Tonkatsu Ramen Set is rich and soothing, with a pork broth that has proper depth. The Char Siew Onsen Karei Rice Set combines tender chicken char siew, a silky onsen egg, and seasoned rice... our kids kept stealing bites. For sharing, the Chicken Floss Cheong Fun Roll brings playful texture, while the Avocado Unagi Maki balances creamy and smoky‑sweet perfectly. Service was warm and efficient, with plates arriving in a smooth rhythm... no long waits, no rush. Sets make ordering easy when you’re mixing ramen, rice, and maki. Our surprise birthday lunch felt special from first slurp to last bite. If you want ambiance‑forward dining, family‑friendly pacing, and dishes that photograph well in daylight, this is a top pick... no surprise it’s by the team behind Wa Zen. Aim for seats along the central alley, snap a few photos, and share a trio: one ramen set, one rice set, one maki. For live music, check the schedule and return in the evening."
"Weekend dinner. Service a bit slow. Ordered quite a number of items, and salad came the very last. But overall the food quality is quite good. Atmosphere is good as well but the live band a bit loud - hard to converse."
"Had a wonderful dining experience at this Japanese restaurant. The service was excellent and very thoughtful — the staff even took the initiative to check our dishes and make sure everything was in order, which made us feel well taken care of. The food was delicious, fusion dishes that were both visually appealing and flavorful. You can really tell that a lot of care has gone into the menu. The ambience was also impressive. The restaurant is designed like a Japanese street, creating a comfortable and immersive atmosphere. Overall, dining here felt truly worthwhile, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Japanese dining experience."
"instagram: splashwww youtube: @splashwww Our family lunch at this spot felt like stepping into a quiet Tokyo alleyway moody warm lighting, soaring “street indoors” ceilings, and a clever layout of cosy nooks that instantly transport you. The background music stays low enough for easy conversation, and the themed private rooms look perfect for small celebrations (book ahead if you want one). The food lived up to the setting. Soft shell crab onsen karei rice set was rich in taste wanting you for more. The unagi mango cheong fun roll with real depth and balance. We loved the yasai okonomiyaki very delicious and for sharing, offers playful crunch and texture, we also enjoyed the salmon mentai mayo yaki set which we could order again when we come back. Service was genuinely warm and efficient plates arrived in a smooth rhythm, no long waits, no feeling rushed. The set-menu format makes ordering straightforward when you want to mix ramen, rice, and maki. Our surprise birthday lunch felt special from the first slurp to the last bite.If you’re after ambiance-driven dining, family-friendly pacing, and dishes that look as good as they taste in natural daylight, this is a standout choice. No surprise it comes from the team behind Wa Zen. Aim for seats along the central “alley” for the best photos, share a trio (one ramen set, one rice set, one maki), and check the schedule if you’d like to return in the evening for live music. Highly recommended."
"The Japanese food here is good, and you can enjoy the food under great environment with good ambient. The interior is decorated with Japanese street style. The staff's service is great, and the hygiene of the shop is good. Food price is your average Japanese food price, but the portion of food is sufficient given the price and the taste is quite good."
